Carl started his working career in 1976 at Continental Cablevision and its successor, MediaOne. He started out as a coax splicer and worked his way up to Installation Manager then to Construction Manager. As Construction Manager he was in charge of new construction and maintenance for both Lansing and Jackson communities. In the late 90's he oversaw the rebuilding of Lansing's 1500 miles of coax and 450 miles of fiber optic plant. In 1999 he made a move to International Cable & Telephone where he was the Vice President of Operations. While there he was in charge of all construction and maintenance projects. In 2001 Carl and his partner Rick Neil started Challenger Technologies where today he is the CEO.
Rick Neil is a graduate of Michigan State University with a degree in Telecommunications. After three years as Head Technician with Triad Communications in Albion and Marshall, Michigan, Rick went on to spend fifteen years in Jackson with Booth Communications and it's successors MediaOne and AT&T Broadband. For over half of this period, he served as Chief Technician/Technical Operations Manager with responsibilities in design and drafting, construction and maintenance of all networks, with additional duties of overseeing all field staff and operations personnel. Rick's experience includes three years at International Cable & Telephone, where he initially served as the Construction Manager before becoming the Engineering Manager overseeing a department that was primarily involved in engineering, design, drafting, and construction of fiber-optic wide area networks, including building entrances and interior routings for several telecommunications firms.
Steve McComb started in the telecommunications industry in 1997 as a field installation technician for a cabling contractor, after 10 years in commercial sales, service, and maintenance. Following two years in the network cabling field, Steve earned the BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification, and moved in to the estimating and project management roles. In 2007, Steve earned the BICSI RTPM (Registered Telecommunications Project Manager) certification just before joining Challenger Technologies as their Operations Manager. In his role as operations manager, Steve handles the estimating, project management, and team scheduling for projects. Steve has successfully earned the Axis Certified Professional designation in IP network video and Extron Electronics AV Associate designation. In September 2015 he attended the BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition in Las Vegas, NV.
